Process Overview
The Gold Refinery Project introduces a novel methodology to refine gold, focusing on processing dore bars and scraps. The refinery employs innovative chemical and electrolytic techniques to achieve exceptional purity levels. Advanced refining technologies ensure efficient processing, overseen by experienced metallurgists and chemists to maintain stringent quality control. Sustainability is paramount, with waste reduction and ethical sourcing practices integral to operations.
Collection of Raw Material
Gold-containing materials such as gold ore, scrap jewelry, electronic components, or gold bars are collected and sorted for processing
Assaying
The raw material undergoes assaying to determine its gold content using fire assay or instrumental methods such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) or atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).
Chemical Treatment (Refining)
The molten gold is treated with various chemicals to remove impurities: ⬧ Aqua regia (a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid) is commonly used to dissolve base metals and silver, leaving behind gold.
Electrolysis
After chemical treatment, the gold solution undergoes electrolysis for further purification: ⬧ Electrolytic cells contain a gold anode and a cathode made of stainless steel or other inert materials.
Casting
The purified gold is then cast into molds to form gold bars or other desired shapes. ⬧ Casting machines are used for this process, which may include vacuum casting or centrifugal casting machines.
Quality Control
Quality control checks are conducted on the refined gold to verify its purity and compliance with standards. This may include assaying the final product to confirm its 999.9 purity.
